Teams that struggle with:
Who, where, and when?
Above all, Bitbucket makes it much easier to manage user permissions than in GIT itself.
You can easily assign appropriate permissions to specific projects, repositories, and branches for given teams or individual developers. You can use different user directories: internal in Bitbucket, JIRA crowd server, internal LDAP (e.g. Active Directory).
A new developer in a team is a new brain with enthusiasm for work, but before you get to know each other, it’s sometimes worth checking the results of their work. With Bitbucket, it’s simple – the application allows using the Pull Request function which you need to verify the new code by designated people before joining the branch on which the new employee worked with the main branch.
Only after their acceptance, the new code will go to the mainstream. You can be sure that the new employee will not do any damage, and that he or she will have the chance to improve the quality of the code if you discuss it together. Bitbucket facilitates such a conversation, allowing you to add comments to individual commit or code snippets. Comments may contain @mention tags, allowing you to automatically send an email with their content to listed people, for example, to ask for an extra opinion about a given change in the code.
One design, different versions
With bitbucket, you get the possibility of full service of GIT workflow. It doesn’t matter whether you work directly on stream, branches, or forks, Bitbucket handles them without any problems and will never become a bottleneck between the developer and the repository. From that level, you get full insight into the list and status of your team's branch.
In addition, internal comments in diffs accelerate the analysis of differences. With Bitbucket, you don’t need to worry about the created code gets lost or that you won’t know which version has been sent to the client. Everything is clear. All you need to do is create.
Spread your wings
You can extend Bitbucket’s capabilities using the free SourceTree to complete management of repositories easily. Commit, clone, push, pull, merge – these are all dressed up in a simple user interface. By combining Bitbucket with Jira’s capabilities, you get the ability to identify the code you are working on with subsequent project phases or debugging.
Retrospectives are also easier. In accordance with its basic idea, Atlassian gives you the opportunity to independently extend the capabilities of Bitbucket or take advantage of the apps available on the Atlassian Marketplace.
