We are pleased to announce that Atlassian has released the first enterprise release of Jira Software 8.5 and Jira Service Desk 4.5!
Better performance in Jira 8.5
But what does mean enterprise release?! Simply put, the enterprise release receives bug fixes over the entire two-year support period. This is particularly important for customers who have larger, more complex instances, and the version upgrade process requires planning and involvement of many people, which translates into performing upgrades only once a year.
What has changed?
Probably now you are wondering if it is worth performing the upgrade? After all, it is a very complicated and time-consuming process. A lot has changed since the last corporate release in version 7.13! First of all, performance has improved significantly! Atlassian states that Jira 8.5 (server version) for an instance with 1 million issues is 17% faster than Jira Server in version 7.13. And for instance with 2 million issues up to 43%! More detailed information on performance improvements for version 8.5 is available here. However, a list of all changes described by Atlassian is available in release notes.
The server version of Jira Service Desk also received a significant improvement in performance, viewing queues with SLAs is now 10x faster than in version 3.16.6! This is just the beginning, more information on improving performance for Jira Service Desk version 4.5 can be found on the Atlassian website.
Would you like to improve performance for Jira instance? Do not hesitate to contact us! We will support you either by consulting or performing the upgrade procedure for you.
