This chapter provides more information about the Azure Active Directory attributes supported in the application
You can display the following Azure Active Directory attributes in Jira custom fields:
You can display the hierarchy of the management (if you choose to display the Manager attribute) to find out who’s the manager of a particular user’s manager. Up to 3 levels of management in hierarchy can be displayed.
Remember, that you can display either the hierarchy structure or the Manager attribute itself - but not both at the same time.
The Licenses and Devices attributes permit users to show their company’s equipment and software license details. This, for example, enables the management to determine which devices and software belong to each user.
User A has requested a new work computer. The ticket goes to User B for approval. User B checks the Devices attribute in the Azure panel to decide. They notice that User A already has four laptops assigned to them. User B knows that User A doesn’t need another computer, so they can immediately reject the request.
Check the Microsoft documentation to learn how to assign licenses and register devices in the Azure AD portal.
The Licenses and Devices attributes can be displayed:
The administrator must add the Read all directory RBAC settings (RoleManagement.Read.Directory) permission to Azure Active Directory to display Groups and Roles. Read more about the Azure Active Directory permissions required by the Azure AD Attributes Sync for Jira app.
You can make your Jira environment even more informative by displaying users’ roles and the groups they belong to. Adding the Roles and Groups provides your team with even more valuable information to keep everyone in the loop and ensure your team works together effectively.
The supported attributes are:
Groups:
Roles:
The Groups and Roles attributes can be displayed:
Note that you can select multiple attributes of the same type from different attribute sets, such as Email (User properties) and Email (Groups).
Below, you’ll find a clickable guide on how to add Groups and Roles to the Issue details view.
The attribute displays the date of the last change to the external user invitation’s status.
An organization admin invited an external user to join the organization’s internal directory. In Jira, the attribute displays the date and time of the last status change to the external user’s invitation. In the case of a newly invited external user, it’s the date of sending the invitation.
See our FAQ page to learn about the date and time format display.
The External user state change date time attribute can be displayed:
Using the Sponsors attribute can enhance project management, accountability and communication flow. It ensures that external collaborators, users and groups are effectively managed, improving overall project execution and security. A Sponsor can be an individual user or a group.
An external user is invited to company A’s Azure AD directory, and an internal user X is assigned as their Sponsor.
The Sponsors attribute (user X) is displayed on the Issue Panel, so any tasks assigned to the external user display the user X as their Sponsor, providing a clear line of responsibility and communication.
Here are the steps to manage the Sponsors attribute in Azure AD:
The Sponsors attribute has been updated for the specific user.
The Sponsors attribute can be displayed:
Currently, the app doesn’t support mapping the Sponsors attribute to User picker (single user) Jira custom field.
Please refer to the Microsoft documentation to learn more about the Sponsors attribute.
