Implement Definition of Done with Jira checklists

Dynamic Forms for Jira supports Jira’s native checklist based on the Action Items feature. The checklist is available in the Description field and all rich text custom fields, and can be used as a condition in Dynamic Forms rules.

Use case

A team wants to enforce a Definition of Done (DoD) before an issue can be moved forward. A rich text custom field contains an action items checklist with the DoD criteria. Using Dynamic Forms, the Definition of Done field appears only when the Yes option is selected for Ready for review.

Steps

1. Add a rich text custom field (for example, Definition of Done (DoD)) to your space screen. Add an Action Items checklist with your DoD criteria.
2. Add a custom radio button control field (for example, Ready for review) with the Yes and No options.
3. Go to Apps > Dynamic Forms > Define rules in Work item views section.
4. Select your project from the list and click Go to configuration.
5. Click Configure rules.
6. Select the field you want to control - Definition of Done (DoD).
7. Add Show field rule.
8. Add condition block: Ready for review > equals one of > Yes.

9. Add the Set value rule and add action items.

10. Click Save.

Result

The Definition of Done (DoD) field is hidden by default. It appears only when the user selects Yes in the Ready for review field. This helps ensure the team consistently follows the Definition of Done before marking work as complete.
