Dynamic Fields in team-managed projects
Learn how to use Dynamic Fields in team-managed projects
The important difference between company and team-managed projects is that in team-managed projects, there is no configuration of screens and all the fields can be directly assigned to each request type. Moreover, in team-managed projects, it is only possible to create new fields while custom fields already existing in Jira cannot be used. However, your previously created Dynamic Fields can be still be accessed through project settings.
For more information about screens and fields configuration in team-managed projects, see Atlassian documentation.
Adding Dynamic Fields to request types
You can use both the existing fields in the request type and your already created Bundled Fields to make them available as Dynamic Fields.
Adding existing fields as Dynamic Fields
Steps
- Go to Service project settings.
- On the left sidebar, click Request types.
- Select your request type and drag the desired fields to the HIDE FIELDS BELOW section.
- Click Save changes.
- On the left sidebar, click Apps.
- Click Customer form extension.
- In the Dynamic Fields section, add the dragged fields from the Add a new field dropdown.
Result
The fields are added to Dynamic Forms and can be further edited.
Not all fields are supported in the team-managed projects. Fields such as Summary, Description, Paragraph or Attachments cannot be moved to Hidden fields section, hence they won’t be available as Dynamic Forms.
Adding Bundled Fields as Dynamic Fields
Steps
- Go to Service project settings.
- Go to Apps > Issue view extension.
- Turn on the toggle next to the issue type you want to add Bundled Fields to.
- In the Dynamic Fields section, add the dragged fields from the Add a new field dropdown.
Result
The Bundled Field is automatically added as Dynamic Field and can be further edited.
