Templates for epics
This page provides information how to create templates for epics.
Create a template for epic
To create a template for epic:
Click + icon on the global sidebar. The Create issue dialog box appears.
Check if you can choose Epic Issue Type. If yes - go directly to the step 7.
If you do not have Epic in Issue Type select, go to the Project settings in the Templates repository project and select Issue types
a. Select Edit Issue types option.
Put Epic to Issue Types for Current Scheme in the table on the bottom of the page by drag and drop.
Come back to the Create issue screen.
a. Add field Epic Name to the Create Issue screen by clicking Configure fields.
To do this, follow the steps in Add field Template to the Create issue screen, only instead of “Template”, add field “Epic Name”.
b. Then configure the following (at least):
- Issue Type: Epic
- Summary: Type Summary of the template
- Epic Name: Type Name of the Epic.
Template is created. Now it is necessary to complete details of the template.
a. Template name is the same as the summary of the issue.
b. In the field Scope there is a scope set for default in the Scopes page. Now you can change the scopes for this template.
c. Switch toggle if you want to copy Sub-tasks in the template or keep it off if not.
d. After making changes, click Save. Result
Template is created.
Create issues in the epic
To create issues in the epic template:
- Click + icon on the bottom of the Epic template screen. Create issue in epic screen appears.
- After filling the fields, click Create.
Issue in the epic template is created.
No additional configuration is required to use the template with Epic issue type. Just use Button Create from template and select proper template.
