First steps
This chapter provides information on the features available after installation and guides you through the first steps you should take.
To follow these guides, you need to have Jira Administrator global permission.
As a new user, you may wonder how to start working with the Queues for Jira & JSM app. Let’s start with a brief description of the main features and process.
UI elements
Once you’ve installed Queues for JSM, following UI elements appear in your Jira:
- Deviniti Queues Configuration in Jira settings > Apps - where you can decide who can administer the app, set the location and name for the Deviniti Queues UI link, determine who can edit assignees directly from the queue view, and which features are visible to users. You can also decide to share statistics that will help us build better features.
Note
On the Configuration page, the app is referred to as Deviniti Queues instead of Queues for Jira & JSM for clarity within the Jira interface.
- Deviniti Queues UI link in the project and Jira top navigation > Apps - where you can configure your queues.
NoteThe default name for your Deviniti Queues UI link can be personalized in the Appearance section on the Configuration page.
Start and overview
Visibility settings
Let’s begin with the visibility settings. They allow you to limit the number of users managing queues and decide which Deviniti Queues UI link (project and/or global) will be displayed in the Jira UI.
Configuring queue
Next step is to configure a queue. You can use Deviniti Queues UI link available in your project or Jira top navigation > Apps.
With navigation options, you’re able to:
The Queues for Jira & JSM app also allows you to import queues - both from the project and JSON file. So, if you already have a JSON file or use native queues in other service projects, importing may make your work easier.
Managing queues
As soon as queues are configured, you can:
- bulk change them.
- reorder them, using drag and drop.
- configure and manage queue groups.
- configure date settings.
- delete them.
- export to file.
User operations
Users who can access queues (without administrating them) are able to:
- set personal preferences.
- search for queues and issues.
- add queues to Favorites.
- filter or sort issues.
- edit assignees.
- hide queues or groups.
