Requirements and Test Management (RTM) for Jira integrates with Atlassian Rovo to generate Test Case drafts directly from your requirements. The Rovo agent reads the content of selected requirements and creates a set of Test Cases ready for your review.
To use Test Case generation with Rovo, make sure that:
If Rovo is not included in your plan, the Allow generating Test Cases using Rovo toggle in RTM settings is disabled. Contact your Atlassian account administrator to upgrade your plan.
You can start Test Case generation from three places in RTM:
The Rovo panel opens and the agent begins generating Test Cases for that requirement.
The Rovo panel opens with the selected requirements passed as context.
The Rovo panel opens and the agent starts generating Test Cases for the selected requirements.
If the Rovo panel does not open after you click the button, Rovo may not be active on this Jira instance. Check the Rovo icon in the top-right corner of Jira or contact your Jira administrator.
When the Rovo agent finishes generating Test Cases, a notification appears in the progress widget in RTM. Each requirement gets its own set of draft Test Cases.
To review the drafts:
Accepted Test Cases are created in RTM and linked to the source requirement. Rejected drafts are discarded.
If the Create Test Cases (Rovo) button appears with a warning icon, the feature is currently unavailable. This happens when:
Click the button to open a dialog that explains the reason and what steps to take. After you close the dialog, the button becomes inactive and a tooltip shows the same information. Contact your RTM administrator to enable the feature.
To hide the button entirely when the feature is unavailable, an administrator can enable the Hide AI button toggle in AI settings.
The quality of generated Test Cases depends on how clearly written your requirements are. For tips on writing effective requirements and reviewing AI-generated output, see Good practices to create Test Cases with AI.
