Notifications

Configure automatic alerts for important SLA events to keep your team informed.

You can add up to three SLA notifications that trigger when an SLA:

  • is about to be breached (warning before the deadline).
  • is breached (when the goal time is exceeded).
  • has been breached for a specific duration (ongoing breach).

Each notification can be customized to include specific recipients, message content, and timing. You can also decide whether notifications should be sent via e-mail or comments in work items. This helps ensure that responsible teams are notified in advance or immediately when SLA targets are missed.

Warning

There is an e-mail notification limit that depends on your Jira plan set by Atlassian. You can read more about limits in Atlassian documentation.

Info

Notifications are available for Duration, Business Days Offset, and Date goal types.

You can set notifications for: Assignee, Reporter, User picker, Group picker.

You can use the following placeholders for your notifications:

  • {{slaName}} - name of the sla
  • {{issueKey}} - sla work item key
  • {{issueSummary}} - work item summary
  • {{targetDate}} - target date formatted as local date string (only set for date/business-days goals)
  • {{remainingTime}} - remaining time (e.g. “2h 30m”), only set for duration goals

Keep the original formatting, otherwise placeholders won’t work.
