Presenting synchronized data in Jira issues
You can display the synchronized AD data in a Jira issue in order to make it available at a glance. It’s a big help for assignees to easily contact reporters by phone or email, or to check any important user details, like the department, office address or manager’s name.
Adding new custom field
To use this feature you’ll need to add the appropriate custom field to Jira.
For more information on adding a custom field, see the official Atlassian documentation.
Steps
To add a custom field presenting Active Directory data in Jira:
- Go to Jira Administration > Issues.
- Select Custom fields from the menu in the Fields section.
- Click Add custom field.
- Select [Deviniti] User’s attribute from Active Directory (AD) in the advanced section.
- Click Next.
- Enter a Name for this custom field and its description (optional).
- Click Create.
- Configure the context of your custom field and clik Create.
- Select the screens on which this custom field will be displayed and click Update.
Result
New custom field of the [Deviniti] User’s attribute from Active Directory (AD) type is added to Jira.
Presenting synchronized data
Next step after adding the custom field to Jira is to choose what AD information should be presented and where.
Steps
To display Active Directory data in a Jira issue:
- Go to Jira Administration > Issues.
- Select Custom fields from the menu in the Fields section.
- Go to [Deviniti] User’s attribute from Active Directory (AD) custom field.
- Select Configure.
- Select Edit options.
- Configure the following:
- Display Active Directory attributes for: Select user whose attributes will be displayed in the Jira issue. It can be reporter, assignee, current user, or any user indicated by reference to the Active Directory.
- Fields to display: Choose which fields should be displayed in the Jira issue. Press and hold the Ctrl key to select more than one field.
- Hide attributes labels: You can decide to hide labels in the Jira issue, so that only the attributes are visible, and words such as “manager”, “mobile phone”, or “department” remain hidden.
Note
Selecting this option will hide the attributes labels in the exported CSV files as well.
- Show in Customer Portal: Select this option to display synchronized data from Active Directory on the Customer Portal.
- Pretty print CF value: Select this option to make the format of your custom field’s data simpler and easier to read. You may need it while using the data in reports, CSV files, ScriptRunner, or other integrations.
- Click Save.
Remember to add your AD custom field to relevant screens.
Result
Synchronized AD data is displayed in a Jira issue.
