PDF snapshots
Discover reporting options for the signatures given in your system
Before you start, log in as a user with the Jira Administrators global permission.
Electronic Signature gives you the possibility to generate PDF snapshots - short reports showing all the authorization details in a compact, shareable format.
Here’s an example of an exported PDF snapshot:
Generate PDF reports
You’ll find a link to the PDF snapshots in any issue where a signature has been given.
Steps
To generate a PDF report:
- Open the issue for which you’d like to generate a report.
- Go to Activity > Signatures.
- In the Snapshots column, click Link.
Result
A PDF report is generated.
The PDF is in fact generated right after the signature is given, and it’s being stored in Jira, in the PDF Exports folder. If you remove the file manually from there, clicking Link in the Signatures section on the issue view won’t retrieve it (an error will be shown to users).
Manage the PDF contents
In the project configuration, you can select custom fields that will be included in the PDF snapshot.
Steps
To select custom fields displayed in the PDF:
- Choose Projects from the Jira top navigation.
- Select the project you want to configure and open its Project settings.
- Select Configuration from the Electronic Signature section.
- In the Custom fields section, select the custom fields that should be included in the PDF.
Result
Selected custom fields will be included in the PDF snapshots.
Other configuration options
The global configuration allows you to customize your PDF snapshots in many ways. Click these links to read more about them:
- Display only the last snapshot under an issue
- Add a PDF snapshot as an issue attachment on the Customer portal
- Exclude some custom fields from the PDF snapshot
