Import configuration

This page provides information on importing configuration of Dynamic Forms.

You can import configuration of Dynamic Forms from .json file. This is helpful when importing configuration to another Jira instance or another service desk project.

Warning

To import global configuration, log in as a user with the Jira Administrators global permission.

Import global configuration

Steps

To import global configuration:

  1. Go to Jira Administration > Add-ons > Dynamic Forms in the Extension for Jira Service Desk section.
  2. In the left sidebar click •••.

  3. Select Import configuration.
    The Choose import type dialog box appears.
  4. Select Type of import:
    • Add imported configuration to the existing one (no settings will be removed)
    • Remove existing configuration and replace it with a new one
      Tip

      We strongly recommend to create a back up your configuration by exporting it to a .json file.

  5. Click Next.
    The Import settings dialog box appears.
  6. Select how you want to match custom fields / contexts / options.
    If you import it from the same Jira instance as the target one, use „Match by ID” option. If your target Jira instance is different, use „Match by name” option.
    Note

    Jira fields, such as Priority or Components, are matched automatically by ID.

  7. Drag a .json file with configuration or click Browse and select a file.

  8. Click Preview.
    Check if configuration is correct. You can add new related fields or modify existed one.

  9. Click Publish to save changes.

Result

Global configuration is imported from .json and saved on your Jira instance.

Import project configuration

Steps

  1. Choose Projects at the top of the screen.
  2. Choose the service desk project you want to configure.
  3. From service desk project sidebar, select Project settings > Dynamic Forms in the Extension for Jira Service Desk section.
  4. In the left sidebar click •••.

  5. Select Import configuration.
    The Choose import type dialog box appears.

    Note

    If you select Add to existing configuration and in Jira is the same configuration as you want to import (the same: master field, context, option, related field), a new configuration is imported depending on the request types.

    For example, your service desk project comes pre-loaded with request types:

    • Get IT help
    • Report a system problem
    • Request a new account
    • Set up VPN to the office
    • Onboard new employee
    • Fix an account problem
    • Get a guest wifi account

    The following table presents in which situation configuration from .json file is added.

  6. Follow Import global configuration from step 4.

    Note

    In case of project configuration, it is necessary to select how you want to match request types.

Result

Project configuration is imported from .json and saved on your Jira instance.
