Import configuration
This page provides information on importing configuration of Dynamic Forms.
You can import configuration of Dynamic Forms from .JSON file what is especially useful when you want to import configuration from another Jira instance or another service project.
Import global configuration
To import global configuration, log in as a user with the Jira Administrators global permission.
Steps
To import global configuration:
- Go to Jira Administration > Add-ons > Dynamic Forms in the Extension for Jira Service Management section.
- In the left sidebar click ….
- Select Import configuration.
The Choose import type dialog box appears. -
Select Type of import:
- Add to existing configuration (no settings will be removed).
- Replace existing configuration.
TipWe strongly recommend to create a back up your configuration by exporting it to a .JSON file.
-
Click Next. The Import settings dialog box appears.
-
Select how you want to match custom fields/contexts/options.
- If you import it from the same Jira instance as the target one, use Match by ID option.
- If your target Jira instance is different, use Match by name option.
NoteJira fields, such as Priority or Components, are matched automatically by ID.
-
Drag a .JSON file with configuration or click Browse and select a file.
-
Click Preview.
Check if configuration is correct. You can add new related fields or modify existed one. -
Click Publish to save changes.
Result
A global configuration is imported from .JSON and saved on your Jira instance.
Import project configuration
Steps
To import project configuration:
-
From service project sidebar, select Project settings > Dynamic Forms in the Extension for Jira Service Management section.
-
In the left sidebar click ….
-
Select Import configuration.
The Choose import type dialog box appears.
NoteIf you select Add to existing configuration and the same configuration as you want to import (the same: master field, context, option, related field) already exists in the Jira instance, a new configuration is imported depending on the request types.
For example, your service project comes pre-loaded with request types:
- Get IT help
- Report a system problem
- Request a new account
- Set up VPN to the office
- Onboard new employee
- Fix an account problem
- Get a guest wifi account
The following table presents in which situation configuration from .JSON file is added.
Your Jira instance (old configuration) Data from imported .JSON file (new configuration) ALL Empty Empty Empty Empty Get IT help Empty ALL Get IT help Empty Get IT help Report a system problem Get IT help, Report a system problem Request a new account, Set up VPN to the office -
Follow Import global configuration from step 4.
NoteIn case of project configuration, it is necessary to select how you want to match request types.
Result
Project configuration is imported from .JSON and saved on your Jira instance.
