Colors

Learn about color labels added to the fields by the Issue Templates app

To help users determine, which Jira fields and custom fields are affected by the app, Issue Templates allows you to add color markings in the background or as a color label displayed next to a field.

Example

A two-color label next to a field that is both autofilled by a template and in the scope of the Create Structure post function.

When users hover over the label, they’ll see a tooltip informing them what it means:

Configuration

Steps

To configure color labels:

  1. Go to Jira Administration > Manage apps.
  2. Select Configuration from the Issue Templates app navigation.
  3. Select Colors.
  4. Click the pencil icon to unlock editing.
  5. Check the box to enable displaying colors by the app.

Result

The color labels and the Template field’s background are displayed on the Create, Edit and Transition screens.

Color descriptions

Here are descriptions and examples of all the color markings in the Issue Templates app:

Gray background

A grey background highlights the Template custom field where users can select templates on the Create, Edit, or Transition screens.

Blue label

A blue label informs users that the field has been autofilled by a template and that the value is read-only.

Green label

A green label indicates that the field is autofilled by a template and users can change the value.

Green label with a warning

A warning next to the green label means that the Overwrite values mode is activated in the Set of fields configuration. It warns users that any value they provide can be overwritten by the template.

Yellow label

A yellow label appears next to fields that are included in the Different set of fields for post function scope. It warns users that the value can be changed later in the workflow by the Create Structure post function.

Green and yellow label

A two-color green and yellow label appears next to fields that are defined in both the basic Set of fields, as well as in the Different set of fields for post function. It informs users that the field is autofilled by a template but it is also in scope of the Create Structure post function so the value might change later in the workflow.
