Understanding differences
IssueSYNC for Jira Server/Data center has different architecture comparing to cloud version. In this chapter you will find what applies to which app version.
(1) Synchronization between different distribution types (Server/DC/Cloud)
Cloud <-> Cloud (see IssueSYNC Cloud) Cloud <-> Server (see How to synchronize Server <-> Cloud) Server <-> Server
(2) Local vs remote (Server/DC only)
You can synchronize with:
- remote Jira instance
- same Jira instance (create Connection using baseURL)
- High isolation level between projects (for example, each project is for different customer)
- Exchange requests between departments but don’t want or can use move operation
(3) Behind firewall (Server/DC only)
If one of your Jira instance is behind a firewall you still can synchronize with it using ‘passive’ mode. See Setup Connection URL & User for more.
(4) Directions (Server/DC/Cloud)
There are several options you can setup your synchronization:
- one way
- two way
- broadcast from one instance to several others
