Filters

This section provides information on saving filters.

Filters All requests, Open and Closed on the left sidebar are default and all users can see them, but only users with the Jira Administrators global permission can remove and edit them. Filters which are saved as custom filters, are visible for user who created them, but can be share with others.

Warning

Before proceeding make sure that your Request Type’s name doesn’t have whitespaces at the end. Otherwise, your Requests will not be displayed when you filter them.

Create a filter

Steps

To create a new filter:

  1. On the left sidebar, select filter from Default section.
  2. In Columns tab select target fields.
  3. To filter requests, use selected criteria.
  4. Click the button near Edit > Save as.

    The Save Current Filter dialog box appears.
  5. Type a name of your filter. The maximum length is 45 characters.
  6. If you want to share your filter, go to Share Current Filter and set the state of switch to on.
  7. Select users or groups/organizations members.
  8. Click Add.
  9. Go to Top Navigation Bar and select a checkbox if you want to show your filter in the menu.
  10. Click Save.

Result

Filter is added to the filter list.

Note
  • If you want to edit above settings, click Edit, enter changes and click Save.
  • If you want to edit general filter settings, for example: columns order or displayed criteria, enter changes and click Save.
  • You can drag and drop your filters on the list. To sort them alphabetically, click on arrows.

If you want to see filter details, click Details.

Note
Use existing filter to create a new one. Modify fields or criteria and click Save as. Also you can choose Discard unsaved changes or click Delete to remove filter permanently.

Save your filter as default

Warning
This option is available only for users with the Jira Administrators global permission.

Steps

To save a filter as default:

  1. Save your filter as default by clicking Save as default.

    The Save as default dialog box appears.
  2. Type a name of your filter. The maximum length is 45 characters.
  3. If you want to share your filter, go to Share Current Filter and set the state of switch to on.

Shared filters

You can use filters which are shared by other users/groups/organizations with you.

Warning
Users with the Jira Administrators global permission can share filters with everybody. Customers can share filters only with users from the organization they belong to.

Steps

To show these filters on Shared filters list:

  1. Go to the Shared filters section.
  2. Click Browse all.

    The Search Shared Filters dialog box appears.
  3. Select filter.
  4. Click Confirm.

Result

A shared filter is added to the list.
