What permissions do I need to configure Advanced Password Policy for Jira?

You need the Jira Administrators global permission. For more information, see Atlassian documentation

Which users can I apply Advanced Password Policy password policies to?

Advanced Password Policy can be applied only to users and groups from your Jira Internal Directory. For more information, see Scopes.

Does the app work on the Customer Portal?

Yes, all functionalities are also available in Jira Service Management. You only need to enable the app on the Customer Portal.

Can I have different policies for different user groups?

Sure, with Advanced Password Policy you can create multiple policies and assign to different groups of users. For more information, see Policies.

Can I upgrade to the latest app version without losing my current configuration?

Of course, all your settings will be migrated. For more information, see Upgrade from older app versions.

Can administrators avoid password change?

Yes, as a Jira System Administrator or a Jira Administrator, you can skip a password change or reset your password age. For more information, see General Settings.

Can I prevent passwords from being similar to old passwords and usernames?

Sure, you can set up your own rules for new passwords and require them to be different from a number of previous passwords, as well as usernames, email addresses of the users, their first and last names and many combinations thereof. For more information, see Password requirements.

Can I instantly lock a user out of their account?

Yes, you can put a permanent lockout on a user account. This will prevent the user from logging to Jira. For more information, see User management.

Can I automatically unlock user accounts?

Yes, you can use our Java API to automatically unlock selected users, or all the users in your Jira Directory.

What notifications can I customize?

You can write your own on-screen notifications, emails about account security events, and reminders about upcoming password expiration. For more information, see Messages.

Can I translate notifications?

Yes, you can translate all notifications to any language supported by Jira by providing your own text in the chosen language. For more information, see Translations.
