Create Test Case Template
You can create a Test Case Template using:
- the Create button from the main navigation bar in Jira
- plus icon or operation from the context menu in the Test Repository view
- operation from the menu More in requirement view
Each of these ways opens the Create Issue dialog where you can fill in fields such as Preconditions, Steps, and many others that are configured on this type of issue.
There are two more ways to create a Test Case Template that do not use the above dialog. These are:
Below you will find instructions on how to create a TCT using the Create button, other descriptions of the methods you will find in the links attached above.
Steps
To create a Test Case Template:
- Click the Create button in the Jira main navigation bar.
- In the Create Issue dialog select Project and set Issue Type as Test Case Template.
- Fill in the Summary field and other fields that will be useful during testing.
- Select a requirement in the Requirement field.
Tip
You can also complete this field after creating the Test Case Template using the Link with Requirement operation.
- Complete the Preconditions field.
Tip
If you have previously saved Preconditions in the repository, you can use them now. Just type the first three letters and the prompts from the repository will show up.
- Complete the Steps field.

- Optionally: In the Test Repository folders field select the destination folder from the Test Repository.

- Click Create.
Result
You have created a Test Case Template.
