Options visibility
Learn how to restrict the visibility of fields’ options in request types.
Configuration
The Options tab of the Visibility configuration gives you a possibility to show the fields’ options only to selected groups of users on the Customer Portal.
Steps
Before you start configuration, remember to add all the fields that are relevant to your project to the project’s issue screen and request types. You can check your current settings by accessing Project Settings > Request Types > Edit fields > Add a field.
- Choose Projects from the main navigation bar.
- Choose the service project you want to configure.
- Navigate to Project settings > Visibility in the Extension for Jira Service Management section.
- Go to the Options tab.
- Click Add.
- Select Request type for which your configuration will be applied on the Customer Portal.
- Choose Field for which you want to determine options.
- Select Options to be visible for the Customer Portal users.
The visibility options that aren’t selected in the configuration will be visible to all users.
-
Select Groups of users for which the selected fields’ options will be visible on the Customer Portal.
-
Click Save.
Result
Your configuration of the Options visibility is added to the list. Only the users who belong to the selected user group will see the chosen Options in requests displayed on the Customer Portal.
It’s possible to edit or delete your configuration any time by using Actions. Click the Pen icon to edit a particular configuration of Options or use the Bin icon to delete the configuration.
Options visibility example
Below you can see the exemplary configuration of the Options visibility in which the Administrator option is visible only to the jira-support group so that customers can’t accidentally request resetting the administrators’ passwords.
For the Customer Portal users who belong to the jira-support group the field’s Option is visible.
For the Customer Portal users who don’t belong to the jira-support group the field’s Option visibility is restricted.
