Filters management
Learn how you can manage your filters
Before you start, log in as a user with Jira Administrators global permissions. For more information, see Atlassian documentation.
My Requests Extension supports two types of filters:
- Default - these filters appear in the Default section on the Requests page. Default filters are configured by the Jira administrators who can save, remove, and share them, but also can grant permissions to other users to save and share default filters with others. We recommend that this section contains only essential filters, useful for every user, regardless of the function or permission scope.
- User-created - these filters appear in the My filters section on the Requests page and, if they’re not shared they are visible only for the customer who created them. Customers can also share their filters so that others can see and use them, but only the original creator can remove or modify them. Once the filter is removed, it also disappears from every customer’s screen that the filter was shared with. By default, all the customers can save and share their filters. However, the Jira administrator can grant or restrict permissions for specific users, groups or organizations.
Default filters
You can specify who is able to save filters as default and share them with others. In order to do so, access the Default filters page and add the appropriate groups and users to the permission pool.
Steps
- In your Jira view, click on the gear icon and select Manage apps from the drop-down list.
- On the left sidebar, scroll down to My Requests Extension and select Filters management.
- To include groups and users into the permission field simply click on the bar and select the elements from the list.
Result
The access is granted.
- Every user or group of users not included in the field will not have access to saving and sharing default filters.
- jira-administrators group can save and share filters by default, so it’s already included in the permission pool.
- You can give global access to all existing and future users by selecting Apply to all (existing and future).
- You can also exclude the selected users/groups from saving and sharing default filters by switching on a toggle above the permission pool.
User filters
You can manage access separately for saving or sharing user filters. In order to do so, access the user filters page and add the appropriate groups and users to the permission pools.
Steps
- Select User filters tab from the navigation above.
Warning
In order to edit the permission pools, remove the Apply to all (existing and future) element from the pool by clicking the X next to that element.
- To include groups and users into the permission pool, simply click on the bar and select the elements from the list.
- [Optional] Repeat the previous step for the other category.
Result
The access is granted.
- You can once again give global access to all existing and future users by selecting Apply to all (existing and future).
- You can also exclude the selected users/groups from saving and sharing default filters by switching on a toggle above the permission pool.
- By default, all the organizations, Jira groups and users are able to save and share User filters.
- Every user or group of users not included in the field will not have access to saving and sharing User filters.
