Synchronization
This section provides information on how to create a synchronization between two Jira instances
Cloud to Cloud
Steps:
- Go to Settings > Apps
- Select Synchronizations from the menu.
- Click New Synchronization.
Synchronization creation screen shows up.
- Provide synchronization name for your connection.
- Select Cloud to Cloud synchronization type.
Note
Cloud to DC connection is not supported yet. If you are interested in such a functionality, feel free to raise a support request and let us know about it.
- Enter the URL address of Jira instance you wish to connect with. This instance needs to have the Issue Sync app installed and active

Make sure to enter your address in https://yourintancename.atlassian.net form
- Select projects and issue types under the Synchronization Scope. Selected elements will be visible in the sync configuration to you and your partner Jira:
- Choose Show all to display all projects and issue types
- Choose Hide only selected to hide selected projects and issue types
- Choose Show only selected to display only the selected projects and issue types
- Click Send invitation to send a connection request to a partner Jira instance
After sending a synchronization request, your connection will be visible on the synchronization list, with an Invitation sent status:
Receiving an invitation
This section provides information about accepting sync invitation.
On the partner Jira a new invitation will show up on the Synchronizations list, with an Invitation Received status. To proceed with the acceptation, click Next
A Synchronization screen will show up.
Similarly to Synchronization creation screen, before accepting, you need to select elements in the Synchronization scope. The selected projects and issue types will be visible in the configuration to you and your partner Jira.
- Choose Show all to display all projects and issue types
- Choose Hide only selected to hide selected projects and issue types
- Choose Show only selected to display only the selected projects and issue types
To accept the invitation, click Accept
Now you can proceed with the mapping of your fields
Rejecting an invitation
This section provides information about rejecting invitation.
Steps
- Open the newly received invitation.
- Click Reject.
- Confirm by clicking Reject.
Results
The invitation has been rejected, and the inviter has been informed about this action.
Deleting synchronization
To delete an already accepted synchronization:
Steps
- Open an already accepted, or configured synchronization.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm by clicking Delete.
Results
The synchronization has been deleted and your partner’s Jira has been informed about this action.
Invitation statuses
This section provides information about statuses of invitations.
There are 6 invitation statues distinguished.
- Invitation sent - when an invitation has been sent to your partner’s Jira.
- Invitation received - when an invitation has been received from partner’s Jira.
- Rejected - when your partner has rejected your invitation.
- Active - when an invitation has been accepted, and at least one mapping is active.
- Not configured - when an invitation has been accepted, but no mappings have been configured yet.
- Deleted - when an invitation was accepted, but then got deleted.
To remove a Deleted or Rejected invitation from your list, open such invitation and click Remove record:
