This chapter provides information on how to grant permissions to users in the Requirements and Test Management app.
Requirements and Test Management for Jira (RTM) uses Jira’s native functionalities. In almost all modules, RTM relies on Jira issues, which are subject to permissions and post functions. In the RTM app there are internal testing objects, which you can manage and grant them permissions.
Test Plans
To expand the possibility of controlling the process, we’ve added the functionality which allows to only execute Test Plans with the specific statuses.
Steps
In order to define the statuses with which a Test Plan can be executed:
Navigate to Project Settings.
Click RTM Configuration > Permissions tab.
Select statuses from the Allow to execute Test Plans in status list. Go to Permissions configuration
Result
You can’t execute Test Plans with other statuses.
Go to Permissions configuration
Test Executions
Block edition of the Test Case Execution
Steps
Enable or block making changes in Test Case Execution and Test Execution.
Navigate to Project Settings.
Click RTM Configuration > Permissions tab. Go to Permissions configuration
Switch Block TCE edit after changing results of TE or TCE to final one toggle to on, if you wish to block any modifications of the completed Test Case Executions.
Note
It will still be possible to link or create Defects at the TCE view, as well as change its Result.
Switch Block change TE & TCE results from final one toggle to on, if you wish to block editing of the status of completion set up on the Test Execution and Test Case Execution objects.
Note
Remember that when you activate this flag it will be necessary to create the new Execution to test the requirement once again.
Go to Permissions configuration
Result
Fields and status editing are blocked.
Operations
Grant permissions to users, groups, or project roles to manage the testing process at various levels. You can take two actions for each permission:
Update - choose who gets permissions: any logged in user, specific users, groups or project role.
Remove - remove granted permissions.
Permissions available for application operations:
Edit Test Case Executions - edit test steps and preconditions directly within Test Case Execution, without affecting the original Test Case.
Manage project dashboards - send reports to projects dashboard. This permission is always available for project admin.
Manage tree structure - manage folders and issues within the tree structure.
Update Test Case Executions - update Test Case Executions after making changes in Test Cases.
App edition
Permissions listed below are available in the Advanced edition of the app.
Edit Test Case steps - link, import, or edit steps and preconditions in Test Cases.
Edit Test Plans - add, remove, and reorder Test Cases in a Test Plan.
Manage reports - save and delete reports.
Manage Test Executions - create, re-execute Test Executions and update the result in Test Executions and Test Case Executions.
Grant permissions to users/groups/project roles.
